Other uses for LIP BALM :)

Other uses for LIP BALM

Hi girls! :) Are you one of those LIP BALM addicts? well, I'm not really addicted to them but I always make sure that I always bring one since my lips tends to become really dry to the point that it would bleed. I admit that I have a couple of lip balms because for some reason, I tend to buy lip balms and totally forget about the old ones (I definitely love trying new scents and flavors and also there hydrating effect!)  So one day, I was just cleaning my stash and poof! I saw a number of lip balms and thought of what other ways I could use them for... and yup I started to GOOGLE it and came up with  some of the other useful things a lip balm could do I do hope it could help you! :)

1. Brow Tamer - If your brows tend to go all over the place or is unruly simply dab some along your brow line and brush your brows into place with a spoolie or a brow brush.

2. Cheek Stain- Instead of using a  powder blush, use your favorite tinted lip balm instead, you cal also mix it with a tiny bit of lipstick on the shade you wanted. Just use your finger to lightly pat the balm along your cheekbones, focusing on the apples of your cheeks. And the result will be natural, dewy, glow-from-within kiss of color to your cheeks.

3. Skin moisturizer – If your elbows or some part of your face rub some lip balm on them. The moisturizing properties of lip balms make them the perfect solution for dry, cracked joints.  Just make sure your lip balm contains the RIGHT INGREDIENTS – some balms that contain menthol, camphor and phenol may feel nice and cooling at first, but all they do in the end is dry your skin out even more.

4. Cuticle softener – Lip balms made with super-moisturizing ingredients like shea butter and coconut oil make perfect cuticle softeners.  Next time you notice your cuticles looking dry and cracked, just dab a small amount of lip balm onto them and massage with your fingers.  Your nails will thank you

5. Moisturize dry hair - Having dry brittle hair, especially the tips? Coat a little amount of lip balm.

6Lubricate a zipper - Rub a small amount of inexpensive lip balm up and down the teeth of a sticky or stuck zipper. Then zip and unzip it a few times. The balm will act as a lubricant to make the zipper work smoothly.

Hope these helps! :)

That's all for now! seeyah

LOVE of make-up

Since college, I already love make-up! I don't put much on myself but I love experimenting on other people's faces. I look at magazines and television and try to re-create the make-up looks. Up until now, I'm still on the process of LEARNING. I read books, look at magazines and ask other make-up artists about their techniques  since everyone has different ways of putting make-up.

I've worked with A LOT of people already since I'm a Part-time Freelance Make-up Artist. I must say that making them feel and look more beautiful is priceless.

For some, they see make-up as a form of "kaartehan" or other negative things they could say about it. They are entitled to their own opinion but as for me? If worn right, make-up would enhance a woman's beauty and bring her much confidence. So on my next review, I will be bloggin about how to put make-up and the basic make-up you will need. :)

Here are some of my work :)

BAKING SODA - Affordable, Natural and Effective Skin Care

Yes, I know all of you might be thinking  "What the heck? Baking Soda as skin care?" :)

Months ago, I was BORED so I just went to google and searched for home made facial mask, and when I was searching I stumbled on the BAKING SODA facial mask which made me really curious since I thought that it was only used for baking! so yeah, after that I read A LOT of reviews about it and thought of trying one myself since I have a box of baking soda that just sits inside the pantry .

Actually there are A LOT and I mean A LOT of wonders/uses that Baking Soda could do. I call it "a miracle in a box" even, but that would be another review. For now, I would be focusing on it as a skin care since I've tried it for months already and it works good. :)

For those of you who haven't got any idea what it is then here it goes.

Baking soda is a leavening agent, which means it is added to baked goods before cooking to produce carbon dioxide and cause them to 'rise'. Baking soda is pure sodium bicarbonate. When baking soda is combined with moisture and an acidic ingredient (e.g., yogurt, chocolate, buttermilk, honey), the resulting chemical reaction produces bubbles of carbon dioxide that expand under oven temperatures, causing baked goods to rise. The reaction begins immediately upon mixing the ingredients, so you need to bake recipes which call for baking soda immediately, or else they will fall flat!

Okay so I used baking soda as a facial wash everyday during morning and evening. I used it for maybe 2 months and was satisfied with the results. Now, I'm just using it as a weekly facial since I'm trying on another soap (just so you'll know, I love trying on stuff!)

Since, this is my personal review, I won't guarantee that this would also have a positive effect on EVERYONE.
I have combination skin. My nose area or T-zone tends to be oily and the rest of my face is dry.

This is how I use it...

How to use it as facial wash:

  • Splash your face with water thoroughly
  • Put a teaspoon of Baking soda on your palm and add drops of water until the consistency is like paste.
  • Apply it gently on your face with a circular motion until your face is all covered
  • Let it settle for a minute and rinse
  • Put on moisturizer

For now, since I'm trying out on another facial soap, I only use it as a facial mask 1-2 times a week.

This is how to do it...

How to use it as facial mask

  • Make a paste using 1-2 teaspoons of baking soda and    water
  • Apply it on to your face until completely covered and let it stay for 5-10 minutes
  • Rinse and put moisturizer on your face after patting it dry.

  • For me when I used it as a facial wash, I felt a stingy effect but is tolerable, especially on the areas where I have oiliness going on, areas that have pimples/acne and on some sensitive parts on my skin. Redness on some parts of your face may show up which also happened to me, but eventually left. After washing, I instantly feel a pore-tightening effect on my face and looked less dull.

Remember to ALWAYS PUT MOISTURIZER after since it tends to make your face dry. (I'm using Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer)

So what are the positive effects that we can get from the regular use of baking soda for our  face? :)
(these are based on my opinion as well as the other reviews I've read)

    • Baking soda is great exfoliating agent since it has a sandy texture  It helps to get rid of the layer of dead skin cell on your face that if left accumulated overtime gives you that dull, and less radiant look. Regular use will give you a much brighter complexion.

    • I have pimple trouble just like many of you who are reading this. I can tell you confidently that it helps with my pimples and also my husband's. I don't have much break outs anymore. This is not scientifically proven, though. It dries up your pimples fast since it absorbs oil on your face.

    • If you have redness due to acne problems, there is a fat chance that the use of baking soda regularly will help reduce the appearance of redness and make you look less like a clown. (but I don't give you any assurance okay?)

    • If you have facial oil overproduction capacity that adds to the global oil dilemma, you will benefit most through the regular use of baking soda. I am a living proof of that. :)

So far that was all I could write about the wonderful Baking Soda! and remember, what could work for me might work or might not work for you so be careful.   Try it out if you want and don't tell me if it works for you too!

    That's all for now! seeyah

E.L.F. - Studio Powder Brush Review

    Hello lovies! :)

So i decided to give my ultimate HG brush a review

since it deserves a whole lot of attention and praises.

I bought this baby, which is the E.L.F. Studio Powder Brush

at Watsons a year ago if I'm not mistaken. I got intrigued

since a lot of makeup enthusiasts are raving about it and I

literally had sleepless nights since I badly wanted to try one

myself! So when I got the chance to go to the city (I live in

the province of  Bukidnon and it's a 4hr drive to Cagayan de

Oro City) I went straight to Watsons and got myself one.

Since then, we never got separated. Just so you'll know, I

have a couple of brushes but this is one of the best and yes,

     it's soooo affordable.

Okay, so here are the details based on the packaging.

    ELF Studio Powder Brush

    Product Details:

This new anti bacterial, synthetic haired Taklon brush is softer and more absorbent and can be used with wet or dry products. Be a professional makeup artist and create a flawless look with this e.l.f. studio brush!

    -Creates a professional sculpted look
    -Full coverage color
-Use for powder or blush for perfect contouring

How to: Dip the brush into powder and then tap off excess. Start near the hairline and work inward as to not over apply color.

    Where I bought it? Watsons

    How much? Php 249.75

What I love about this brush is it is a MULTITASKING brush. This single brush can do a LOT of different  things and does the job well. I use this to buff liquid foundation, apply loose and pressed powder, I use it to contour my face and I use it to apply blush (powder or cream) or bronzer. This brush is dense, and has a black ferrule, bristles and handle which makes it look classy and not cheap. When washed, it doesn't shed nor bleed.

    What I LOVE:
    • It's a multitasking brush
    • It's quite dense
    • Has soft bristles and didn't irritate my skin
    • Affordable
    • Can do the job well
    • Sleek  looking

    What I don't love:
    • The ferrule gets loose when used and washed a lot of times but a super glue can hold it and will be back in no time :)

    Final verdict:
    • I LOVE THIS BRUSH it's super affordable great for girls who doesn't want to own a LOT of brushes, for beginners and also for professional make-up artists. I would definitely repurchase when the time comes  grab yours now!!

    That's all for now! seeyah

I ♥ Philippine Drugstore Makeup Tag

    Hello lovies!
I want to do a tag that has been popular on youtube but as I’ve read on http://pinaybeautyinabudget.blogspot.com she made a local version which made me think of doing one since I’ve tried a lot of local drugstore makeups already. I searched on my make-up case to see the local makeup stuff that I have.
    so this is it the
I ♥ Philippine Drugstore Makeup Tag!

    1. What is your favorite local drugstore makeup brand?
hmmmmm.. I don’t really have a specific one but if I were to choose then maybe I’ll go for  Ever Bilena since I’ve tried more of there products and was satisfied than the other local brands, but doesn’t mean I don’t love the other local brands

    2. What are your favorite face product?
Now on this part I can’t just choose one. It will be soooooooooooo hard for me. So I’ll try to list some of the products I’ve tried and put SOME of  the pros as well as the cons since I would be doing reviews on them later on.  :)
    <3  4U2 Face Value BB cream –  P 294.00

    PROS:
§  It has good coverage  - Medium to full
§  It feels light on the face
    §  Dewy finish
§  Doesn’t trigger oiliness on the skin

    CONS:
§  Concealing is still a must for dark/red spots
§  It only comes with a 20g tube (I hope thet hve a bigger one)
§  It’s a bit expensive for others considering it only has 20g of the product

<3  Ever Bilena Advance Studio Finish Stick Foundation   - P165.00

    PROS:
§  has a good coverage – Medium to full
§  It could also be used as concealer
§  It has a slight dewy finish

    CONS
§  If you have oily skin then you have to set it well with a good finishing powder or it will feel sticky and heavy

    <3  Kokuryu Summer Cake - P 100.00

    PROS:
§  Excellent coverage ,medium to full
§  Lasting power is good even in humid weather
    §  Very affordable
    §  Great for oily skin
    §  It doesn’t oxidize

    CONS:
§  It has a “granny scent” to it which annoys me
§  Water activated, you have to wet a sponge/brush for it to be used
§  You have to be really careful when applying it or it would look uneven, streaky or cakey

    3. What are your favorite cheek product?
I’ve also got a few items that I love
    <3 Nichido Mousse Blush - P 170.00 (I bought it on sale at P 85.00)

    PROS:
    §  Affordable
§  Easy to apply and the color is buildable
§  Could be used as a base to your powder blush (to make it last longer)

    CONS:
§  I can’t think of any! but this line of blush will be faced out   so if you see one? don’t hesitate to buy.

    <3 Careline Mineral Blush-on P95.00

    PROS:
§  It’s so affordable that I got every shade there is! nyahah
§  Could be used everyday and didn’t cause irritations even though I have sensitive skin
§  You get 2 shades in one packaging
§  They have a brown shade, good for contouring

    CONS:
§  It tends to be a bit powdery so you have to tap the excess before applying
§  Some shades are not that pigmented, so make sure to try the tester first

    4. What are your favorite  lip products?
       <3 Ever Bilena Matte Lipstick – P 155.00

    PROS:
§  Variety of shades to choose from reds, pinks and nude
§  Stays for 4-5 hrs. not bad for the price

    CONS:
§  It may tend to dry your lips (you can put some lipbalm and let it set for awhile before applying the lipstick or  put lipgloss after applying the lipstick  )

    5. Least favorite product?
Ever Bilena Mousse  Eyeshadow - P 100.00.  When I bought this and swatched it on the EB counter, It was pigmented and and glides on smoothly so I bought 5 shades. After several months the consistency was crappy, when applied to the lids it is cakey (i don’t know if it’s the right word) but when applied to the wrist the consistency is a lot better. I think You have to warm it up just to loosen up the product.

    6. What is the best makeup bargain?

The best makeup bargain for me is the Ever Bilena Magic Lipstick  P 80.00 . It comes with different colors and you can’t seem to predict what color it would show up because it depends on the color of your lips and as well as the acidity. It’s really long lasting even if you eat/drink. When it dries up it is like a liptint that stains your lips. You could also make it as a base on your favorite lipstick. What I don’t like about this though is the packaging, it is cheap looking, but doesn’t matter. I love it and would repurchase again and again. It is  great for everyday wear!

    7. What is your favorite underdog product? (Something you love that often gets overlooked?)

That would be the San San Waterproof Eyeliner Pen -P 85.00. I love this product and I even use this on my clients when I’m having a makeup gig. It comes in two shades Black and Brown. It has a sturdy  pointed felt tip that would allow you to make fine to thick lines on your lids. If you have shakey hands like I do, then this would be perfect for you.

So this is my version of   I ♥ Philippine Drugstore Makeup Tag
